This enchanting concert focuses on Vivaldi's Gloria, performed as he himself once intended: with only girl and female voices. The human voice is sometimes considered the most beautiful instrument of all. It can complain, plead, rave, rant and cry; it can be warm and cold, full of compassion or distant. Even without words, the human voice knows how to touch you.
Countertenor Maarten Engeltjes and rising baroque star Elisabeth Hetherington bring stunning vocal jewels. They perform them with the National Women's Youth Choir and baroque ensemble PRJCT Amsterdam. You will hear an ode to light by Handel, comforting cantatas by Bach and the radiant Gloria by Vivaldi. Special, because the Gloria is rarely performed in this setting.
