In Bach's vocal oeuvre the soprano and the alto occupy a privileged position. Yet we know that in his sacred and secular cantatas there are still quite a few arias hidden that hardly anyone has ever heard: arias that are very rarely heard in the concert hall and of which there are hardly any CD recordings. The wonderful aria 'Wo zwei und drei versammlet sind' from cantata BWV42 is an example of this. Maarten Engeltjes and Emöke Bárath, interpreters of Bach's music on the world's most famous stages, wish to change this and have joined forces in this program.
