PRJCT Amsterdam, under the direction of Maarten Engeltjes, brings Handel’s famous aria “Ombra mai fu” to life — the opening aria from the opera Serse, in which the Persian king Xerxes blesses the shadow of a plane tree and prays that storm and thunder will never disturb her peace.
This new video recording is part of our video series Immortal Frequencies — an online treasure trove of the most beautiful Baroque music, recorded at special locations in the Netherlands.
The recording was made at the Concertgebouw Amsterdam, with visuals by Grycko Films and sound by TRPTK.
