Matthea de Muynck | violin / viola d’amore

Matthea de Muijnck (Rotterdam, 1988) has played the violin since she was eight. Matthea studied classical languages ​​at Leiden University and the violin at the Royal Conservatory in The Hague. After her Bachelor’s degree in classical languages ​​she focused on the violin under the direction of Janet Krause. She spent part of her education in Leipzig, where Mechthild Karkow gave her her first lessons on the baroque violin.

Under the guidance of David Rabinovich, Matthea further specialized in the baroque violin in The Hague and received her Master’s degree at the Amsterdam Conservatory with Shunske Sato and Sayuri Yamagata. Matthea participated in numerous master classes, including the Vogler Quartet, Carolin Widman, Jacqueline Ross, Sigiswald Kuyken, Bojan Cicic and Gottfried von der Goltz. She regularly performs with several well-known baroque ensembles such as The Netherlands Bach Society, the Orchestra of the 18th Century and Concerto Köln.
