Kim Stockx | bassoon/recorder

Kim Stockx (1987) began studying the recorder at the Royal Conservatory in The Hague in 2005. She studied with Dorothea Winter and Daniël Brüggen and graduated in 2009.

During these four years she attended master classes with some unrivaled professionals such as Reine-Marie Verhagen, Peter van Heyghen, Sebastian Marq, Christina Pluhar, Wilbert Hazelzet, Frank de Bruine, Charles Toet and Patrick Ayrton.

Kim participated in various competitions; she won first prizes at the “Laureaten competition” in Veldhoven in 2004 and the “24 carat” competition in 2005.

In June 2012, Kim obtained a second bachelor’s degree with at the Royal Conservatory in The Hague. Her main subjects were baroque bassoon, classical bassoon and dulcian. In 2014 she obtained her master’s degree under the guidance of her teachers Donna Agrell, Wouter Verschuren and Alberto Grazzi, again with the predicate cum laude.

She has worked with, among others, conductors such as Ton Koopman, Peter Dijkstra, Lars Ulrik Mortensen, Patrick Ayrton, Peter van Heyghen, Charles Toet, Jos Vermunt, Christina Pluhar and Emilio Moreno. In 2012 Kim was chosen as the bassoonist of the European Union Baroque Orchestra (2012), with which she toured throughout Europe.

In addition to her permanent position at PRJCT Amsterdam, Kim is one of the artistic leaders of the Dutch ArtWorks Ensemble, the Continuo Company, and the Parnassus Ensemble.
